From the TCM Press Room comes news that July, 2011 will feature an examination of Race & Hollywood: Arab Images in Cinema.
Turner Classic Movies has annually examined the changing racial attitudes reflected in film. In years past shifting images and perspectives toward African Americans, Native Americans, Latinos, and Asians have proved to be rich and varied topics for discovery in cinematic history. This year the network will be examining how Arabic people have been depicted in movies from the silent era to the present day. Undoubtedly, this event could not be more timely given recent ongoing events around the world.
