This is romance: How Green Was My Valley (1941)

Characters who are separated by chance, space and circumstance, but nevertheless have a connection are deeply romantic.  In this beautifully edited video, drawn from John Ford's film of Richard Llewellyn's novel of Welsh life, How Green Was My Valley (1941), the bond between Angharad Morgan (Maureen O'Hara) and Mr. Gruffydd (Walter Pidgeon), whose first name we never learn, remain kindred souls despite the claims of the world on their lives.
